Scatterplot of transcript levels in patients with appendicitis. Whole blood RNA from patients with acute, surgically confirmed appendicitis (n = 11) or abdominal pain (n = 9) was profiled for the expression level of 45,966 transcripts on Illumina BeadChip Arrays (12v4). The expression level of each transcript was averaged within groups and plotted on a log2 scale to reveal transcripts which differ between more than 2-fold between groups (outside parallel lines)
