Heatmap linkage analysis illustrates distinct differences in the transcriptome in control, obese and gastroparesis subjects. To visualize the overall differences in mRNA expression between each of the groups of samples used for RNA sequencing we performed a heat map analysis on all genes that were found to be significantly different between any group of samples as determined by an ANOVA analysis with an FDR cutoff of < 0.05. Expression data were exported from edgeR software and average log2-counts-per-million were imported into Heatmapper (www.heatmapper.ca). For the heat map analysis sample grouping was assessed using a complete linkage analysis together with a Pearson distance analysis.
